Digital wedding invitations for Saudi Arabia

In Saudi Arabia an invitation often carries two dates, two halls and a long list of relatives. Dawati's single link, Arabic-first design and separate men's and women's RSVP are made for that.

Hijri first, Gregorian beside it

Saudi civil dates follow the Umm al-Qura calendar, so many families print the Hijri date first and the Gregorian beside it. Type both in your wording, and check the Hijri date against the official calendar, because a moon-sighting can move a day.

Times are written on a 12-hour clock with ص and م in Arabic. Weddings often begin after the Isha prayer, so give the time of the entry and, if you can, of the bride's arrival.

Two halls, two guest lists

Where the men's and women's celebrations are held separately, RSVP lets you mark each household as men, women or family. Each guest sees only the invitation for their own evening.

The venue of the other group is not shown to them. That keeps each hall's address with the people who need it.

How the sections work

Wording and the Saudi register

Formal invitations open with Bismillah or a verse and use the family name in full. The contract signing is often called عقد القران or الملكة, and you can make a separate invitation for it. Choose the Arabic that your family uses, not the one a translator would pick.

Our guide gives wording examples for different tones, from tribal and formal to light.

Price, WhatsApp and the time zone

WhatsApp is how most Saudi families send invitations, and the Dawati link is made to be forwarded in a chat or a family group. A digital invitation costs 20 JOD, which is about SAR 106 at today's indicative rate; payment is by CliQ in Jordanian dinars, and we will tell you what is possible if you are paying from the Kingdom.

Saudi Arabia is on UTC+3 all year, the same as Jordan now, so there is no time shift between you and the studio.

Choosing a design for a Saudi wedding

Arabic comes first in most Saudi invitations, so start with the Royal GCC collection, where Arabian Heritage and Golden Architecture lean on Najdi-inspired motifs and Royal Majlis uses midnight blue and gold. Arabian Heritage is free; the others are premium.

If your family likes a plainer card, Arabic Calligraphy in the Exclusive collection puts the lettering first. In every case read the Arabic text aloud once: a line that sounds stiff to you will sound stiff to your aunts.

Weddings, milka and the days between

A Saudi family can host a milka (the contract signing), a henna evening for the women, the wedding itself and sometimes a gathering the day after. Each is a separate invitation with its own link, so a cousin invited to the henna does not see the details of the men's hall.

Plan the list per event first, then the cards. It saves you from re-sending a corrected link to the whole family on the night before.

Privacy: who can open the link

A Dawati link opens for anyone who has it. For a Saudi family that keeps the women's hall private, that matters: do not put the women's venue address in an invitation that goes to the men's side, and do not post the link on a public account.

Make one invitation per section, send each only to its guests, and use a line such as "for ladies only" in the women's card. This is simple discipline rather than a technical lock, and we say so plainly.

Questions and answers

Can I list separate halls for men and women?

Yes. Make one invitation per evening, or use RSVP to give men's and women's guests the invitation for their own evening.

Does the editor convert to the Hijri date?

No. You write the Hijri date yourself, so confirm it against the Umm al-Qura calendar. Our guide shows how.

Can I pay in Saudi riyals?

Payment today is by CliQ in Jordanian dinars. Riyal prices on the site are approximate.

Does RSVP take Saudi mobile numbers?

Yes. Numbers beginning +966 5 are stored in international format and work with WhatsApp messages.

Will it open for guests in other countries?

Yes. It is a normal web link. Write the time with the city, since guests abroad are in other time zones.
